Church Extends Bible Drill Beyond Children To Adults

By Marcia Knox

This fall, Tulip Grove Baptist Church in Old Hickory, Tenn., “pushed the envelope” on its children’s Bible drill by opening the program to adults during the church’s discipleship training hour on Sundays.

The 11 weeks of practice culminated on Nov. 14 with a church-wide Bible drill for adults during the Sunday night service.

It was the first time a Bible drill has been offered for the adults at the church and it drew participants from 18 to 60-plus years old with a median age of 42.

Participants used the children’s Bible drill curriculum from LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention and worked from September until mid-November on the Bible drills.

“We had a fine bunch of 14 adult church members participating,” said Pam Reasonover, who has led Bible drill competition at Tulip Grove Baptist for 28 years.
