LifeWay Celebrates 30 Years Of Special Needs Ministry

The Newsroom features an article that celebrates our three decades of providing Sunday School and other learning materials to kids and adults with special needs.

LifeWay’s first dated Sunday school materials for the special needs community were released in fall 1979 - a time when such resources were rare on the market. Today we offer several distinct, carefully crafted options to help those with special needs know and worship God in their own way - and help those who teach them have a greater ministry impact.

In 2007, LifeWay launched Bible Teaching for Kids: Special Buddies, curriculum geared toward children in first through sixth grade. You can adapt its lessons for individual instruction or group settings.

The adult option for special needs learning has been available for more than 20 years. Today it's known as Access, and it uses a multimedia approach to teach learners Bible stories in ways they can comprehend.

In summer 2010 your church can use the Special Friends Edition of our Saddle Ridge Roundup VBS program to reach members of your community with different abilities. The Leader Pack and CD-ROM provide adaptable lesson plans for kids, youth, and adults.
