Don’t Let Summer Shortcut Your Fall Planning

We all look forward to summer with thoughts of a slower pace of life and work along with probable plans for some needed time away to rest and relax. So, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking “I have all summer to plan for the fall” or “I’ll have plenty of time later when VBS is over”. But don’t let your summer activities shortcut your planning for your fall ministry. It will be here before you know it!

Now is the time to evaluate your ministry from this last year and begin planning for the fall. It will take you all summer to get your plans in place and communicate well with your leaders because of everyone’s vacation schedules.

I have already begun talking to Ministers of Education as I make church visits about what they are planning for their fall ministry kick-off, what training they will have for their leaders for the new year, and what adjustments they will perhaps make to their pattern of on-going worker meetings.

So, what about you? How will you evaluate your year? When and how will you plan your new year of ministry? Who will you include in the process? How will you communicate effectively this summer with all your leaders?

I will post some suggestions soon regarding all this, but for now read Sunday School Checklist for June, July, August to get you moving through the summer and headed toward the fall.

Until next time…share the journey and enjoy the ride!
