Leading From The Second Chair

Last month I also attended the Louisiana Baptist Religious Educators Association (LBREA) Annual Conference which was held at the Louisiana Baptist Building in Alexandria on March 13-14. Sean Keith, Sunday School/Discipleship Strategist for the Louisiana Baptist Convention ( invited me as a guest from LifeWay. Thanks, Sean! It was a great time of fellowship and ministry content. And that crawfish thing was delicious!

The program guest was Roger Patterson, co-author of the book Leading From The Second Chair. I had picked up the book last year because of my great interest in the topic, but my calendar got congested and I never got past a brief scanning. So, I was especially interested in the conference and Roger’s presentation. Roger did a great job and was very engaging as he talked about the three paradoxes for second chair leaders from his book—Subordinate-Leader, Deep-Wide, and Contentment-Dreaming. Roger obviously has a deep understanding of life as a “second chair” leader and articulates well the skills needed to be successful in that role.

Until next time…share the journey and enjoy the ride!
